How did you get started with fitness?

I've been involved in weight-training since I was 15 years old. I was a pretty thin kid growing up, only about 130 lbs, so weight-training really allowed me to change my physique in a positive way. I also was a track athlete in High School; so I found that weight-training was very beneficial for my success as an athlete. Sports and wanting to have a physique like the NFL players in the magazines as a kid motivated me to get started into working out. Once I started I got hooked and the rest is history.

Where does my motivation come from?

My motivation comes from those around me that see me working out and then look up to me as a role model in regards to being physically fit. I feel because so many people look up to me for inspiration that I have a responsibility to be as fit as I can for myself and for them. Also another motivation is maintaining my physic for pursuing a fitness modeling career. I also keep maintaining myself in order be in shape because I see those that are higher in age who still are able to upkeep their fitness level.

What’s my training philosophy?

My training philosophy is something that will keep me moving during my workout and keeping my mind off things that could distract me. It allows me to relieve my stress and then refocus it on being a better person. With my workouts I keep a high intensity from one exercise to another with minimal resting in-between so that I'm not getting into cool downs. This allows me to get the most out of my workout.

If I had to pick only three exercises, what would they be and why?

My choice exercises would be for sure bench press, it benefits me to keep my chest in shape. I would then do bicep curls with a dumbbell. That keep my arms toned and cut. I would never go without running, it's my favorite form of exercise. It is very important to me and it is part of my everyday routine.

What is my philosophy on nutrition?

I love protein and I know that helps build muscle. It is important to consume a form of protein with each meal because it gives you strength for your workouts. I also check my calories, as I workout I burn a lot of them. In order to replace and keep up my personal build, I have to make sure that I am getting enough calories so I am maintaining my body's frame. I also look for the good fats in foods and I'm aware of what is going into my body. Making food from fresh, not canned or frozen helps me to be aware of what is actually going into my body. There are more benefits from eating fresh foods in your diet.

What is my favorite meal/food??

I love to eat grilled chicken breast. I could also eat eggs everyday. I enjoy avocados right out of the skin. Oatmeal is one of my favorite breakfast meals with some fresh blueberries along with some low fat cottage cheese.
My wife can cook it out for our family. Thank God I have her in my life to keep my nutrition on balance.

My favorite “cheat” food?

I love Fried Chicken... it is a true weakness. Unfortunately I'm also hooked on a good double chocolate muffin.

What supplements do I use?

I currently am using Visalus Nutrition daily. Besides that I'm currently not taking any additional supplements at this moment.
